Current balances: Unit 1 – $63,381 | Unit 2 – $41,183. Accounts are in good standing. Gift cards were distributed to all union staff at Christmas. The Executive hopes to continue this practice in future years.
Social Events
The Family Christmas Party in December was the highest-attended ever, featuring games, crafts, face painting, pictures with Santa, gift bags for children, skating, and a meal at Gryphs restaurant.

President’s Awards

Incentive to Join the FSEA Executive
Executive committee members who contribute beyond the expected 5-hour monthly commitment can be paid up to 4 additional hours per month (with proof of work or course certificate). This is designed to support and encourage member participation on the Executive.
AI and Grievance Software
Mike and Evonne will be testing new AI-assisted grievance software developed by a U of G professor. FSEA negotiated a no-cost one-year trial (estimated $250/month if continued). This could be a valuable resource for members.
January 15 Snow Day
University management acknowledged the mistake in not calling the snow day before the work day began. All staff entitled to extra pay will be compensated.
Emergency closure policy reminder (University Policy 512):
- Unit 1 non-essential staff: Stay home with pay for scheduled hours
- Unit 1 essential staff: Regular pay plus additional straight-time pay or equivalent time off
- Unit 2 essential staff required to work: Straight-time pay in addition to regular pay
- Unit 2 non-essential staff: Do not report; no additional closure pay
