Q. When can I start the pension?
- You need to work at least 700 hours per year, for two consecutive years to be eligible to join the pension. This applies to all staff, part time and full time.
Q. When will Hospitality pay for my work shoes?
- After you have completed 6 months of work, and each contract year after that, you can submit a receipt for approved work shoes that you purchased. Hospitality will cover up to $190.
Q. I missed the deadline for allocating my Health Spending Credits. Can I get an extension?
- Individuals are given a large window to allocate. (the full month of November) At the end of that allocation period, the University is required to meet the implementation schedule provided by our insurer. Our insurer requires these annual allocation files to be tested and implemented in advance of January 1st (which means in advance of December 23rd due to the University’s holiday shutdown schedule).

Q. Can I access my benefits until the end of the month in which I am laid off if I don’t carry them over the summer?
- Unfortunately, no. Your benefits end on the last day you work in that month. On the flip side though, when you return from layoff you do not pay for the first partial month.
